This simplified description illustrates the various stages of the Kisima Music Awards process. The process begins with Music artistes and production houses submitting entries, which are then screened for eligibility and category placement. The Nomination Academy members, all involved in the creative and technical processes of recording, production and transmission, then participate in (1) the nominating process that determines the four or five finalists in each category; and (2) A percentage of the final voting process goes to the Voting Academy and the general public which determines the Kisima Music Awards recipients (winners) after an audit by a professional firm.
Entry Submission
Production houses, record companies and individual recording artistes enter recordings and music videos released during the eligibility year which they consider worthy of recognition in the KISIMA Awards process.
8th KISIMA MUSIC AWARDS ENTRY (2008)
• Eligibility
• A song / Album released between 1st April 2007 – 1st April 2008
• Resident of Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Zanzibar or originally from the mentioned countries though residing in another part of the world.
• Music that has its origin and instrumentation from the greater Africa region though the artiste is from outside the mention countries.
• Entry Form duly filled in all sections accompanied with music audio or music video in the format recommended i.e. CD/Cassette of Song/Album. Music Video in DVD, VCD or DV Tape format.
• Music Video,(Will be entered for Music Video of the Year Award)
• A song as a single for consideration for nomination.
• An Album for consideration for nomination.
• Download the entry form by logging onto www.kisimaawards.co.ke (download entry form) and print it out.
HOW TO ENTER
SUBMIT
Fill the Entry form duly signed by the copyright owner of the song, Include the name of the producer of the song and Video Director. Artiste Profile including Nationality, Current residential Address and Telephone Contacts. Please include
• Professional Photographs of Artiste/Group. Hardcopy and Soft copy in CD
• Enclose all requirements in Envelope addressed to 8th Kisima Nomination Academy

The Nomination Academy members all involved in the creative and technical processes of recording, production and transmission participate in vetting of the submitted entries and nomination.
Nomination Academy
Nomination Academy is mainly composed of Program/Music producers, Music Researchers, Entertainment Editors, Veteran music artistes, copywriters, Script writers, Film producers, music managers and consultants’ all having been involved in the creative and technical processes of recording, production and transmission of Music.
Panel Selection
Individuals in the Nomination Academy to be Stakeholders representing Media houses, Production and Entertainment industry in the region.
Select a seasoned personality from the Entertainment, Corporate or the Media as Chairperson
Co-opt the Media Owners Association to provide a select number representative of the Media.
