NOMINATION  REPORT

This year the Kisima Music Awards received 362 audio and 140 video entries which were competing in 34 categories on offer.  This was an increase of 27 % as compared to last year’s entries.
Out of the entered music we noted that 60%of all the entrants were of new artistes which in turn translates to growth in the industry.

Paying special tribute to the categories with the highest entrants I would like to highlight some categories that received the highest entries e.g. Boomba male which had 27 entries, collaboration of the year -31 entries, song of the year Uganda 23 entries, song of the year Tanzania 20 entries, male gospel received 17 entries whist female gospel had 15 entries just to name a few.

In line with the nomination regulations, the nomination academy had four sessions where all the submitted music was gone through for category placement done as per the entries received meeting the set standards in accordance with the nomination charter.
All the audio music was subjected to tests in originality/creativity, arrangement, production, vocal delivery and performance. The videos were subjected to creativity/originality, scriptwriting, arrangement, production and performance consecutively where marks were awarded in each section on a scale of 1-10 from each academy member. It was worth noting that some categories were expanded whilst others done away with in line with the growth in the industry.

Today we release our list for the nominees to this years Kisima music awards and it is worth noting that of the 35 categories, our listing is for only 32 categories with the exemption of lifetime achievement, best producer and album of the year award.

As per our analysis we noted that that of all the artists who were nominated P.unit (Kenya) and Lady Jaydee(Tanzania)received 4 nominations a piece whilst  Nyota ndogo,marion shako,Onyi papa j,Nameless,Mejja,Kenrazy,STL,Ukoo Fulani,Juliana Kanyopmozi,?Navio ,Matonya and Wakenya pamoja all received three nominations a piece.
Those who received two nominations include Tmk Wanaume,Atemi Oyungu,Chizi,Webuye jua kali,Jimmy gait,Haimmie,MOG,Kenzo,Kleptomaniax,Baby Gangsta,Wahu,Radio and weasel,Pine creek artists and Klear Kut.
